TWISMA project has been mentioned in the updated Input of Ukraine to the European Strategy for Particle Physics (https://indico.cern.ch/event/1439855/contributions/6461445/), in the context of integration of Ukrainian scinetists into international community through projects such as Horizon Europe, "focused on research on innovative calorimeters for high energy physics based upon advanced scintillation materials, which is coordinated by ISMA".
It is highlited that ISMA contributes to the ScintCal project dealing with detectors for applications in extreme radiation environments at future hadron colliders. ScintCal considers scintillating fibres (crystal and plastic) for the Spaghetti Calorimeter (SpaCal), a sampling electromagnetic calorimeter made of scintillating fibres inserted in a high-density absorber material such as tungsten with a tunable energy resolution and time resolution of 10-20 ps. ScintCal aims to identify the key R&D activities to be carried out on various scintillators and wavelength shifters to achieve the required performance for the various calorimeter concepts proposed in the SpaCal technology. Particularly, ISMA develops cost-efficient technologies to produce radiation-hard garnet crystals as active elements in such a calorimeter.
